This past weekend I volunteered to help a shearing crew in the Navajo Partition lands and was gifted a few colors that I was looking for in Navajo Churro. The season was hard on the wool and it’s quality is a little stressed but the color is awesome. The late winter and severe storms stressed the sheep which can affect wool quality and I’m, hand processing the fleece which result in more usable wool than mill run yarn. Here I’m just shaking dust and deburring seed and chaft. Tonight the fleeces will soak overnight before souring.
