Tániil’éii (Water Strider) is a special insect that is held in esteem for it’s quickness as it glides upon the water sources on the Navajo Reservation. Made for a Warrior it is hoped that the quickness will help the wearer in their mission and journey as they complete their journey home after a long farewell.

Like many 1st phase bow guards, this piece has no stone. In my family and the stories that have be told to me, turquoise and many everyday jewelries’ would not be worn when a warrior is initiated. A prohibition against the stones and gems of tradition must not witness violence. Shiny metals are rubbed down with sand and given a matte finished to prevent glitz. Old teaching that enforce survival in both practical and mental sense and self. The lined cuff is hand  stitched with a western braided edge with a hidden money pouch
